Commercial Property Investment
Atlanta native James “Jim” Shaw is the founder and chairman of Primestone Properties, a company focused on commercial property investments. With ventures in both the acquisition and development of commercial real estate, Jim Shaw and Primestone Properties work to provide residential, office, and mixed-use real estate across the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Primestone recently developed Milton Park, a mixed-use property with 462 residential units and more than 100,000 square feet of office and retail space in the north Fulton County area. This development was honored with the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Development of the Year” award and named “Mixed-Use Development of the Year” by the Atlanta Regional Commission.
Another Primestone development, One Vinings Mountain, houses 156 units in an upscale condominium tower. With its luxury amenities and elevated view of Atlanta’s skyline, this property was given the National Association of Home Builders’ “Best in American Living” award as well as the Urban Land Institute’s “Development of Excellence” award.
Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (PRUMC)
Investor James Shaw of Atlanta is a principal of Primestone Properties. In that capacity Jim Shaw is involved in venture capital and commercial real estate. As a philanthropist, he has donated over $20 million to good causes in the Atlanta area.
One of Jim Shaw’s charitable recipients is the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (PRUMC). Among other things, its multi-generational congregation dedicates itself to gathering money for community service.
During Lent, PRUMC asks its members to set aside a daily offering to be presented on Sundays. On Easter Sunday, these funds go to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, thus aiding construction of new homes. On Mother’s Day, PRUMC donates to the Wesley Woods facility. In this way the church helps with housing and healthcare for senior adults.
PRUMC’s summer camp benefits the next generation. The camp gives homeless youth a chance to enjoy recreation and also supplies swimsuits, shoes, and clothing. For the beginning of school, PRUMC each fall distributes 2,000 backpacks to students living homeless or in shelters. Each pack is stocked with new supplies. PRUMC’s Children’s Sunday collection goes to the United Methodist Children’s Home in Decatur. Its mission is to comfort and counsel children in harm’s way.
